CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ A free pharmacy pop-up will provide over-the-counter medication to anyone in need on Friday, Dec. 12 at Camino Salud in northeast Charlotte.ย
NC MedAssist and Camino Salud, with help from Atrium Health, Mecklenburg County Health Department and Mecklenburg Countyโs Meck Health in Action, are hosting the Mobile Free Pharmacy at Camino Health Center to support families impacted by the Border Patrol operation in November.
โWith everything that just happened due to Charlotteโs Web and everything, we do know that there are members of the Latino community who are afraid to leave their homes,” Camino spokesperson Paola Garcia said. “So, if theyโre not taking advantage of telehealth services, then we know thatโs why offer this eventโsuch as offer free medication is so important.”
NCMedAssist’s Mobile Free Pharmacy has visited other counties in North Carolina and provided medications such as pain relievers, cold and cough medicine, allergy medicine and more to residents.ย
โVitamins, allergies, your regular cough medications โ all over the counter โ we will also have our amazing social navigation team on staff that if there are members of the community who do need to be connected to other services besides the services here at Camino, then the social navigators can connect them to those services,” Garcia said.
No identification or proof of residency is required to pick up medicine, however, individuals must be 18 years or older.ย
Folks who attend this event may also sign up for NC MedAssist’s prescription program if they are eligible. Residents who are uninsured and fall at or below 300% of the poverty line may enroll and receive free prescription medications.ย
Mecklenburg County Health Department will also be providing flu and COVID vaccines.ย
The Mobile Free Pharmacy will be help at Camino Salud on 201 Stetson Dr., Charlotte, NC 28262 on Friday, Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.ย
After Mecklenburg County, the mobile pharmacy will visit Forsyth and Duplin counties.
