Gov. Walz said he has a “very simple message: We do not need any further help from the federal government. To Donald Trump and Kristi Noem, you’ve done enough.”
ST PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Walz spoke to the media after a woman was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in south Minneapolis Wednesday morning.
Walz said he was issuing a “warning order” for the Minnesota National Guard, meaning that they are on standby. Colonel Simon Schaefer spoke after Gov. Walz and explained that a warning order is an “initial step to increase your preparations” to support state agencies.
People have been protesting in south Minneapolis, and many have since moved that protest to downtown, demanding that ICE agents leave the city.

Walz told the media that he is angry about what happened Wednesday morning, and that the federal government has “done enough.”
“What we’re seeing is the consequence of governance designed to generate fear, headlines and conflict. It’s governing by reality TV. And today that recklessness cost someone their life,” Walz said.
“From here on, I have a very simple message: We do not need any further help from the federal government,” Walz said. “To Donald Trump and Kristi Noem: You’ve done enough.”
Gov. Walz also said that his administration will stop at nothing to seek accountability and justice.
There has been an increase in ICE agents, with more than 2,000 agents being deployed to the Twin Cities in the past several days.
