The reward for exciting mare Oui Oui Oui booking her place in the $1m Provincial-Midway Championships Final via Thursdayโs opening qualifier at Hawkesbury could be a dip at a Group or Listed race.
Trainer Jason Attard said an advantage of the four-year-old taking part in an early qualifier is it gives him the option to bridge a gap until the April 11 final by trying to achieve his primary aim.

โThe biggest goal for her and for Kate [Nivison], the owner, will be to try and get black type for the horse,โ Attard said.
โThe Championships is a nice notch to have on her belt but black type will be the bigger goal.
โItโs whether or not we try to do that in between now and the final or if we save it for afterwards.โ
A stakes win after qualifying, for both the Country and Provincial-Midway series, doesnโt rule a horse out of contesting the final โ as evidenced when Bandiโs Boy won a Group 3 after qualifying for the Country Championships back in 2024.
Oui Oui Oui exploded onto the scene in the summer with a hat-trick and it earned her early favouritism for the Provincial-Midway Championships Final at $6 with TAB.
Given she sits on five wins it made sense to Attard to tick the box and lock her in for that final because it allows him that chance to step her up in class if she wins and another shot at qualifying if she doesnโt finish in the top two.
โItโs a back-up to run now because if she doesnโt qualify then thereโs plenty of room to go again in another qualifying race,โ he said.
