NORTH CAROLINA, USA โ North Carolina public schools will see $2.5 million in federal education grants, Attorney General Jeff Jackson announced.ย
The funding comes from the Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) program by the U.S. Department of Education. The money will support schools through the rest of the 2025-26 school year.ย
โThis is a good outcome for our students โ but not the final step in our fight,โ Jackson said. โSchools and students will continue to get much-needed funding they were promised for the time being while we continue this case.โ
This grants comes after Jackson sued the Department of Education for terminating $50 million in grants that supported students in rural and low-income communities, many impacted by Helene.ย
While this lawsuit is ongoing, the Department of Education is allowing grantees to use previously awarded funding until June 30, the attorney general said.ย
