Brandon Craig will take over from Mike Henry as chief executive of Australiaโs largest mining company, BHP, who will step down in July after six years in the top job.
BHP chair Ross McEwan said Craigโs appointment followed a formal succession process.
โI am confident that his [Craigโs] discipline and focus will continue to drive BHPโs high-performance culture and advance the companyโs unrivalled pipeline of growth options to maximise shareholder returns,โ McEwan said in a statement on Wednesday.
Craig is currently BHPโs Americas president running the minerโs Canadian, US and South American operations. Before that, he headed up its Pilbara iron ore business.
