St George Illawarraโs woes have continued with Jaydn SuโA facing three matches on the sidelines for his dangerous tackle on South Sydney captain Cameron Murray.
SuโA was hit with a grade-three shoulder charge offence by the match review committee on Sunday morning after he became the first player sent off in the 2026 season.
Should he plead guilty, SuโA will return against the Warriors in round 12 , while if he elects to fight the charge at the judiciary and loses, the Samoa international will be back for Manly the following week.
Souths players were unimpressed with the way SuโA shot out of the line, with injured back-rower David Fifita caught on TV cameras standing above the tunnel at Accor Stadium and yelling at the Parramatta-bound Dragon.
The Dragons have now lost all seven games this season, with pressure further mounting on coach Shane Flanagan.
His immediate future will be discussed at a club board meeting on Tuesday night, but there is an expectation that if the coach is moved on, it will be after Saturdayโs Anzac Day clash with the Sydney Roosters, so there is little risk of taking any of the spotlight off the occasion. The Dragons also have a bye the following week.
In other Dragons news coming out of Saturday night, Hooker Jacob Liddle injured his hamstring before kick-off, while Damien Cook required stitches to a deep cut in his hand.
Boom young back-rower Dylan Egan is expected to return from a ruptured ACL next weekend, but the plan was to get some minutes in reserve grade, rather than being given a daunting first-up assignment against the Chooks.
