The powerhouse training establishment led by Ciaron Maher is set to take Bathurst by storm on Tuesday when three leading contenders go around.
The all-conquering Maher stable enjoyed success at the Gold Coast on Saturday when former Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Pride Of Jenni scored an all-the-way Hollindale Stakes victory, and the success is expected to continue at Bathurst.
Jockey Louise Day will link with Maher when she partners Lady Lonsdale in the Bathurst Regional Security Maiden Handicap (1200m).
Lady Lonsdale began her career in Victoria in the care of Ben, Will and JD Hayes and was placed in her first two starts before being moved to the Maher camp.
She has yet to be placed in five subsequent starts but has had two recent NSW starts for a sixth at Rosehill and a last-start fifth at Newcastle.
Zac Wadick will partner the next of Maherโs Bathurst runners, Six Kings, in the Happy Birthday Dean Mirfin Maiden Handicap (1400m).
Six Kings races in the same colours as Lady Lonsdale, and the son of Wootton Bassett has had three starts since resuming from a spell for a fourth at Nowra and then Orange, before a last-start fifth at
Goulburn.
The third and final runner for Maher will be Bivacco, which will contest the Bathurst Plumbing & Gasfitting Class 1 Handicap (1100m) with Chad Lever in the saddle.
A three-year-old gelding by Bivouac, Bivacco broke his maiden at Canberra in February. Heโs since had three starts for a fourth at Goulburn, a close-up third at Scone and a last-start fifth at Goulburn when not beaten far again. Bivacco has drawn ideally in barrier two.
Meanwhile, the Bathurst-based Dean Mirfin has three chances at his home-track meeting with Michelangelo (Jacob Stiff) in the Inland Digital Class 1 & Maiden Plate (1800m), Giovana Star (Leeshelle Small) in the CWNET P/L Country Boosted Benchmark 58 Handicap (1400m) and Scopics (Jordan Quince) in the Central West Electrical Benchmark 66 Handicap (1200m).
