True North Copper has checked off another key box on the road to a 2026 pre-feasibility study, completing its latest drilling campaign at the companyโs Cloncurry copper project in northwest Queensland.
The program has done a lot of heavy lifting behind the scenes, designed to extend resources where possible and boost confidence in the geology of the resource zones for its first reserves estimate.
It also sought to acquire metallurgical and geotechnical data for mine planning and reserves conversion, which will be critical for the companyโs proposed pre-feasibility study in the December quarter of 2026.
Across the current field season, True North has hammered out 3500 metres of reverse circulation (RC) holes and bored 2300 metres of diamond drilling across a suite of priority target areas, including the companyโs Great Australia Mine, Taipan, Orphan Shear and Wallace North and South prospects.
โThe completion of this drilling campaign marks another important step in advancing the Cloncurry Copper Project.โ

Follow-up RC and diamond holes at Wallace North also targeted extensions of previously identified high-grade copper-gold mineralisation and fresh geophysical targets, previously flagged by fixed-loop electromagnetic and induced polarisation surveys.
The company says it expects reverse circulation assay results to start rolling in from early June, with diamond drilling assays โ along with metallurgical and geotechnical study outcomes โ due through to September. Those results will feed into updated models and other technical workstreams, underpinning the upcoming pre-feasibility study.
True Northโs latest drilling follows a busy late-April period at its Mt Oxide project near Mt Isa, where the company launched a 23-hole, 6000-metre program. The drilling was aimed at expanding its recent Aquila copper-cobalt-silver discovery and sharpening its understanding of the structures that control mineralisation.
True North Copper managing director Andrew Mooney said: โThe program has successfully targeted a combination of resource extensions, near-mine exploration opportunities and technical workstreams, with several areas continuing to demonstrate strong potential for further resource growth and mine life expansion. Our focus is on developing a robust and right-sized project with a credible near-term production pathway, supported by resource growth, improved geological confidence and disciplined technical studies.โ
With the Cloncurry rigs now parked up and Mt Oxide exploration underway, the company is positioning itself for a steady run of news as results land and development studies gather pace.
If the rigs have done what they were sent out to do, True North should soon be piecing together a sturdier Cloncurry resource picture – the sort of groundwork that can turn a study timetable into a genuine near-term production pathway.
With results on deck from June, the news flow could remain nicely primed.
