WASHINGTON โ Former first lady Jill Biden is giving a health update on her husband a year after the former President was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer.
Jill appeared on the “Today” show to promote her new memoir and said her husband, former President Joe Biden, was doing well amid his cancer battle.ย
“He’s doing okay,” she told “Today” host Craig Melvin. “I think if he had just been diagnosed with prostate cancer that’s one thing, because that can be cured. But the fact that it metastasized to his bones, that makes it a whole different story.”
“I think joe will live with cancer for the rest of his life,” Jill said.ย
The former president was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which later spread to his bones in May 2025. The 83-year-old Biden had undergone radiation therapy in October 2025 and was also using hormone therapy, according to his spokesperson at the time.ย
In a post on X at the time, he wrote, โCancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.โ
According to the MayoClinic,ย prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancers. It is usually found early and it often grows slowly, though if it spreads it becomes more difficult to treat.ย
The Biden family has faced cancer repeatedly over the years. Bidenโs son Beau died of a brain tumor and ย Jill had two cancerous lesions removed.
Last year, Biden also had surgery to remove skin cancer.ย
