
The Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg announced key endorsements for the 2026 primary.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ The Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg announced its endorsements for the 2026 primary election Monday, backing candidates in races from U.S. Senate to county commission.
The endorsements were determined through a vote conducted using a secure, independently certified system, according to the organization.ย
At the federal level, the caucus endorsed former Gov. Roy Cooper for U.S. Senate and Rep. Alma Adams for the 12th Congressional District. The group also backed Colby Watson in the 8th District and LaKesha Womack in the 14th District.
For Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners, the caucus endorsed three at-large candidates: Arthur Griffin Jr., Yvette Townsend-Ingram and Leigh Altman. District endorsements went to Morris “Mac” McAdoo in District 1, Monifa “Mo” Drayton in District 2 and George Dunlap in District 3.
The organization also endorsed Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden for reelection.
State-level endorsements include Rodney Sadler for N.C. House District 106, Nasif Majeed for N.C. Senate District 99 and Christine Marie Walczyk for N.C. Court of Appeals Judge, Seat 3.
Additional judicial endorsements include George Guise for superior court judge and Habekah Cannon for district court judge.
“These endorsements reflect the collective voice of our membership and our commitment to strong, accountable leadership,” caucus leadership said in a statement.
