Morrow filed campaign paperwork Thursday with state elections officials, formally entering the race for the seat being vacated by Republican U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis.
In a statement announcing her campaign, she referenced former Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat who’s also running for Senate.
“North Carolina cannot afford four more years of Roy Cooper,” Morrow wrote.
U.S. Senate terms are for six years.
While Morrow attacked Cooper Thursday as a “self-interested, career politician,” Cooper hit back, calling her “an ultra-right wing candidate who is wrong for North Carolina.”
