
County commissioners voted to promote longtime staffer Mike Bryant to county manager.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ Mecklenburg County leaders voted to approve Mike Bryant as the new county manager on Tuesday.
Bryant, who’s been with Mecklenburg County since 2003, was previously the deputy county manager. The Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to promote him to county manager.ย
He will replace Dena Diorio, who is retiring at the end of June. Diorio, who served over a decade as county manager, will retire effective July 1, 2025.ย
“I can’t wait to put into motion all the wonderful things team, that we’re going to accomplish together,” Bryant said.ย
As deputy county manager, Bryant was responsible for providing executive oversight of several departments and was responsible for the management and distribution of American Rescue Plan funding. He first joined Mecklenburg County as a management and budget analyst. He was promoted to director of that office in 2014.ย
Prior to his service with Mecklenburg County, Bryant worked for the city of Durham, Duke University and the North Carolina governor’s office.ย
