Naomi Osaka received the ultimate nod of approval for the outfit in which she made an unforgettable entrance to Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday night.
The dual Australian Open champion and former world No.1 wowed the crowd and television audiences alike when she walked onto the court for her match against Croatian Antonia Ruzic, wearing a white hat and veil with flowing white pants, which she took off to reveal a green ruffled dress.
The Australian Openโs fashion editor at large, Fashion Critical, said the outfit was โcompletely unhingedโ, but she loved it.
โItโs giving Met Gala. Itโs giving Fashion Critical,โ she said.

โI love the idea of bringing a bit of theatre to the walk on. But you better have the pedigree to back it up โ which she does.โ
Melbourne Fashion Festival head Caroline Ralphsmith, sitting in the front row at Osakaโs match, also approved of Osakaโs choice of outfit.
โ[That was an] incredible overall impression for the full entrance moment โ the crowd loved it,โ she said. โThe actual dress is creative, flowing [yet] still sporty and allows her full movement on the court. Wonderful self-expression.โ
