The 14th District represents portions of Mecklenburg, Gaston, Cleveland, Burke, and Rutherford counties.
Republican primary
Moore has represented the 14th District since he was sworn in January 2025. He previously served in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2003 to 2025.
Moore serves on Congressional committees for Financial Services. In 2024, he defeated Democrat Pamela Genant in the general election with 58.1% of the votes.
Moore’s campaign website states he stands for fiscal responsibility, smarter regulation, and stronger support for hardworking families and local economies. He highlights his efforts in the NC House of Representatives where he advocated for voter ID laws, outlawing of sanctuary cities, and balancing the budget.
Kate Barr is facing Moore in the primary but has admitted to being a “fake Republican.” She’s ran in previous elections as a Democrat and says she’s running to showcase gerrymandering in the district and the state.
Barr’s main campaign positions are fighting for eliminating gerrymandering, fair pay, income tax deductions, and fair prices for various necessities.ย
