RALEIGH, N.C. โ Millions of dollars in disaster relief funds are stalled in the North Carolina General Assembly as Republican leaders squabble over the details of a proposal to help victims of Hurricane Helene.
The state House of Representatives on Tuesday voted unanimously to reject a $700 million package passed by the state Senate Monday, which also wouldโve directed nearly $2 billion more in federal funds toward various projects.
Helene hit North Carolina, which hit the state in September, was the most devastating storm in state history. It killed more than 100 people and caused an estimated $60 billion in damage, according to state officials.
