NC Republicans backed the Iran strikes while Democratic lawmakers called them unconstitutional and demanded a congressional vote.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several North Carolina lawmakers voiced support for the strikes on Iran on Saturday, calling them a necessary step.
The U.S. and Israel launched a major attack on Iran in what President Donald Trump said was a massive operation to destroy the country’s military capabilities and eliminate the threat of it creating a nuclear weapon.
The strikes came after Trump had pressured Tehran for a deal to constrain its nuclear program, building up a fleet of American warships in the region as the country struggles with growing dissent following nationwide protests.
The Department of Defense called it “Operation Epic Fury” in a post shared on X.
