
With over 600,000 veterans living in North Carolina, Gov. Josh Stein and other state officials are seeking solutions to help them find meaningful employment.
WILMINGTON, N.C. โ Gov. Josh Stein, alongside leaders from the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting its workforce, particularly veterans.ย
During a visit to Wilmington’s NCWorks site on Wednesday, Stein discussed the career resources available to job seekers.
“North Carolinaโs economy has been ranked at the top for business in recent years, and as we keep growing, we must ensure that every corner of our state benefits from that growth,” Stein said.ย
He praised NCWorks for its role in connecting people to career opportunities and directed the Departments of Commerce and Military and Veteran Affairs to continue their collaboration to ensure veterans can succeed.ย
“We have to do everything we can to support our veterans,” he added.
Department of Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted the importance of the New Hanover NCWorks Career Center in connecting job seekers with employers.ย
“Transitioning veterans are great employees, and they can visit any NCWorks Career Center for help developing a new career and connecting with employers that recognize their skills and experience,” Lilley said.
With over 600,000 veterans in North Carolina, DMVA officials stressed the need for meaningful job opportunities.ย
“We are committed to partnering with Gov. Stein to explore meaningful ways to overcome the barriers veterans face,” Jocelyn Mitnaul Mallett, the agency’s secretary, said.ย
