Race 1: 12:30PM MIDWAY HANDICAP (1100M)
5. Flightcrew is going well on good tracks and if thereโs some sting out of the track which is looking likely to a degree, thatโs going to help her. Ran well above her price when ambushed by Big Red Tequila at Warwick Farm earlier in the month but go back to her last run away from good ground and smart Godolphin filly Taxation just nailed her. Can only run well, back to Midway level, each-way. 6. Letโs Go Again is always around the mark, ran fourth in that Warwick Farm race then solid back to 1000m behind Mal Coupe. A soft track would be ideal and sheโs a chance again. 10. Bryant gets the blinkers on for the first time and a 6.5kg drop after an even effort at Canterbury second-up. Still lightly raced and entitled to another chance. 4. Zaragoza is another who doesnโt win out of turn but is consistent. Placed in a Midway over this track and trip two starts back then up to BM78 and battled. He can run well.
How to play it: Flightcrew EACH-WAY.
Race 2: 1:05PM TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP (1000M)
17. Brave Xena will have to be handy to back up after her easy Class 1 win at Nowra last weekend and go straight to a Highway but sheโs been very impressive in both starts with the sting out and gets in her light and drawn well. Thereโll be good speed on and it comes down to whether itโs all too soon. 2. Satin Stiletto hasnโt had the rub of the green when it comes to barriers of late so seven is a big boost. Sheโs been game in all three runs in Class 3s at Randwick over 1200m, only win was at 1000m so far, so thatโs no concern and she might have a good chance. 1. Sir Franklin hasnโt done a lot wrong and he won three straight on soft tracks in the winter before a break. Looked good in his latest trial, drawn okay and he looks a bit over the odds. 3. Neil was a Highway winner on a heavy track in August and will be fitter for a first-up run at Doomben. He was well-supported there, so no surprise to see him improve.
How to play it: Brave Xena WIN.
Race 3: 1:40PM ASAHI SUPER DRY HANDICAP (2000M)
4. Bear On The Loose did enough first-up when leading over a mile and boxing away for third to say heโs come back well and can lift. The 2000m with a bit of give in the track is right up his alley and heโs the most likely leader. Big weight but big class drop too and he should be somewhere in the finish. 6. Mr Monaco is an interesting runner, a winner over 2400m at Caulfield in October and heโs switched states after an even effort over a mile three weeks ago. Started double figures there so keep an eye on the market around him. 2. Unlimited found a good position in the run but wasnโt sharp enough coming back to the mile behind Sun God after wins over this track and trip and at Wyong. Much better suited and the claim helps. 1. Don Diego De Vega is capable of running well fresh at this trip especially with a bit of rain around. An each-way chance.
How to play it: Bear On The Loose WIN.
Race 4: 2:15PM SINTORO SWEET EMBRACE STAKES (1200M)
8. Hardanger looks a bit forgotten sheโs done nothing wrong in her two starts. On debut she was running on well behind Warwoven into third then off a break, and going back from a tricky gate, she found the line nicely in the Widden to fill the same spot. Handier draw, 1200m both look in her favour and sheโs right in this. 6. Pembrey was far too good on debut at Eagle Farm, leading all the way over 1000m on a wet track and putting a big space in them. Different level here but theyโve found James McDonald to ride and itโll be interesting to see where she sits. 2. Spicy Miss should be better for her close second three weeks ago at 1000m in the Lonhro. Fair to say she had her chance but sheโs done nothing wrong and canโt overlook her. 4. Ciaronโs Star sat a lot closer in the Pierro two weeks ago and was far too good. Probably doesnโt want it too wet but sheโll love the 1200m.
How to play it: Hardanger EACH-WAY.
Race 5: 2:50PM CATANACHโS JEWELLERS SKYLINE STAKES (1200M)
4. Warwoven is the Golden Slipper favourite and happy to side with his quality to get him through at his first run since early January where he was far too good. No public trials but heโd only had one trial before his debut win and has gate one to help him get an easy first half. If the same horse turns up as weโve seen to date heโs hard to beat. 7. High Alert brings some handy form from Victoria having run a close fourth to Alibaba and last time not far off the likes of Closer To Free and Stretan Ruler. He did trial a couple of times at Randwick before those runs, keep him safe. 1. Fireball is unbeaten with wins at Rosehill in November and the Inglis Millennium three weeks back. Different set up for him from a tricky gate and thatโs the major concern but otherwise heโs one of the chances. 11. Central Europe is on debut after three trials with the latest of them coming on Tuesday. It was a nice piece of work, heโs high enough up in Slipper markets ahead of his debut so he has a bit to live up to.
How to play it: Warwoven WIN.
