Nationwide protests against ICE continue after Renee Good’s death, with demonstrations emphasizing constitutional rights set in Charlotte, Belmont, and more.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement continued nationwide over the weekend, with demonstrations in Charlotte, Belmont, Rock Hill and other cities.
The protests stem from the death of Renee Nicole Good, who was shot and killed by a federal agent in Minneapolis. According to Indivisible Charlotte, this killing was a “part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.”

Groups locally and across the country are organizing a coordinated “ICE Out for Good” Weekend of Action, calling for accountability, remembrance, and greater awareness of the human cost of ICE’s actions, according to Indivisible Charlotte.
Jackie Radford with Indivisible Gaston said the group is advocating for constitutional boundaries.
“We’re a pro-democracy, pro-constitution, pro-rule of law group,” Radford said. “We definitely feel like overstepping their training, their constitutional boundaries, their purpose and shooting the woman they shot in Minneapolis.”
Radford said the goal is to raise awareness.
“We just want to say no, we won’t stand for this,” she said.
Protester Nevaeh Clark said she wants to help others feel protected.
“I want to protect as many people as I can, and if it’s standing out here for a couple of hours, that’s nothing compared to other people feeling safe,” Clark said.

Another demonstration is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Uptown Charlotte. The protest will begin at 2 p.m. at First Ward Park.
A protest was also held at First Ward Park on Thursday night, where hundreds of demonstrators marched through Uptown in solidarity with Good and her family.
