
Two state lawmakers will be hosted at a Charlotte business event on Monday. They’re expected to discuss a new state senate bill aimed at expanding the city’s transit
CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance hosts North Carolina Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger and newly-appointed Speaker of the House Destin Hall on Monday.
The event, which will take place at the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance headquarters at 330 S. Tryon Street, will provide a platform for Berger and Hall to engage with the regionโs business community. They will outline their top priorities for the 2025 legislative session and participate in an informative dialogue about the year ahead.
So far this year, lawmakers have made headlines byย launching a new Helene recovery committee. Charlotte leaders are also hopeful state lawmakers will accept a plan to fund city transit expansion through an increased in sales tax.ย
For Monday’s event, CLT Alliance Chair David Longo will moderate the discussion. Berger and Hall are expected to address pressing issues such as transportation, infrastructure, education, Helene recovery, workforce development, and child care.ย
Berger is a Republican representing District 26 in Guilford and Rockingham counties. This is his thirteenth term in the state senate.
Hall is a Republican representing District 87 in Caldwell and Watauga counties. This is his fifth term in the state senate.
