It’s a big day for Cameron Green, as the 27-year-old tries to heed Pat Cummins’ advice about getting out of his own way and letting his talent bloom.
Green has been off-limits to the media since his confrontation with our own Tom Decent at a Sheffield Shield game last summer, but he has spoken to Cricket Australia about the incident and what fuelled it.
“I think it was potentially me at my wit’s end, and the journalist probably at his wit’s end as well,” Green said.
“So it was just completely bad timing from both parts. It had been a long few months, we’d just come off not a great World Cup, and I was just about to go off to India for two-and-a-half months as well, so I knew that was coming up … there was a lot happening at the time.
“It certainly wasn’t a big moment, and probably was a reflection of how I was feeling at the time. Obviously, it’s not something I want to happen ever again, but at the same time, it didn’t really faze me at all.”
Hopefully, Green plays things a little differently should he get a century this week.
