ClearVue Technologies has ticked off a key European certification milestone for its latest solar glass technology and simultaneously firmed up a $6.25 million capital raising as it forges ahead with converting its building-integrated solar products into broader commercial uptake.
The Perth-based smart building materials company says its Gen 3 Vision Glass has passed EN 1279-5:2018 testing, the European standard that governs the long-term sealing performance of insulating glass units used in construction.
The result is significant because ClearVueโs patent-applied-for design allows power cables to pass through the seal of a double-glazed glass unit without compromising the sealโs integrity.
In simpler terms, the company has shown its power-generating window glass can maintain the kind of long-term moisture and condensation resistance expected of conventional high-performance glazing.
โEvery certification we achieve is a direct outcome of how we design and manufacture our products.โ
ClearVue Technologies chief executive officer and managing director Douglas Hunt
ClearVue says the test confirms its Gen 3 assembly meets hermetic integrity requirements under the European standard and is compatible with the industry-standard aluminium spacers typically used by double-glazed unit manufacturers and specified in commercial curtain-wall systems.
The company says the certification further de-risks the product for builders, faรงade engineers and procurement teams by validating a design feature that makes manufacturing and installation easier, while helping to deliver improved thermal performance and compatibility with advanced low-emissivity coatings.
ClearVue chief executive officer and managing director Douglas Hunt said:
โWe design to be certified, not the other way around. These bespoke components, having passed the EN1279-5 standard, are a meaningful step forward because they validate the key design features of our Gen 3 Vision Glass that are pivotal to easy manufacture and installation.โ
On the funding side, ClearVue today confirmed its capital raising will now total $6.25 million, up from the $6M package announced yesterday. The total comprises $5.25M from a placement and a further $1M through a fully underwritten share purchase plan.
The placement is priced at 11.5 cents per share, with one free-attaching option for every new share. The company says its board and management have also committed $400,000 through a mix of participation in placements and director-loan-funded shares, subject to relevant shareholder approvals.
ClearVue says funds from the raising will support product certification and testing, enterprise resource planning systems, marketing, intellectual property and international business development as it scales its global commercialisation push.
The company continues to develop and refine its solar-integrated glass and building faรงade products. The novel technology is designed to preserve transparency while generating electricity and, depending on the design, can also provide insulation and improved ambience in the buildings where they are installed.
With its latest certification in hand and fresh capital lined up, ClearVue now has a clearer path to maintain its growing focus on bringing its unique technologies from the test bench to building sites.
