Gateway Mining has tacked another kilometre of strike onto its emerging Cowza gold discovery in Western Australia’s Yandal project, 85km northeast of Wiluna in WA, extending the continuous mineralised system an additional 1000m to an impressive 4.5 kilometres. The latest aircore drilling results from the step-out program include an 8-metre hit grading 2.1 grams per tonne gold.
The company also tabled an impressive high-grade intercept of 4m at 9.7g/t gold from 60m depth at its nearby Celia South prospect in the same project, extending the mineralised footprint to more than 1.5km of strike.
Gateway’s latest aircore drill results from the northern extension of its Cowza discovery, part of its broader Yandal gold project, continue to demonstrate the system’s scale. Other key step-out intercepts at Cowza include 8m at 1.6g/t gold from 80m and 8m at 1.1g/t gold from just 36m.
Management says the mineralisation at Cowza remains open along strike and at depth and is now approaching the separate Celia South corridor, pointing to a strong possibility that the two systems could link up. The company believes the broader Celia Shear corridor, which hosts both discoveries, is a large-scale hydrothermal gold system.

The strongest results at Cowza are consistently associated with a favourable mafic-intermediate geological contact within a structurally complex corridor, a setting the company says is associated with other significant gold deposits in the prolific Yandal Belt.
The timing of the discovery looks opportune, with the Australian gold sector in the midst of a significant merger-and-acquisition wave as producers look to add scale and mine life to their operations. With gold prices still hovering at elevated highs of more than US$4600 (A$6400) per ounce, fresh discoveries in proven postcodes such as the Yandal Belt are capturing market attention.
While the aircore rig has been busy defining the near-surface scale of the mineralised oxide footprint, a reverse circulation (RC) drill rig has also been busy at Cowza, drilling into deeper fresh rock. The initial assay results from that work are slated for return next month and are expected to provide the first meaningful test of the system’s grade and continuity at depth.
The company remains well-funded to continue its aggressive exploration push, reporting a healthy $15.1 million in cash and liquid securities at the end of the June quarter.

While the focus is firmly on the Yandal project, Gateway also holds several other resources in the region, including the 163,000-ounce Montague-Boulder deposit and the adjacent 77,000-ounce Julias-Flametree trend, 70km northwest of Sandstone in WA’s Mid West region.
With the RC hammer-bit now driving hard through deeper fresh rock at Cowza, all eyes will be on the assay lab next month. If that program can deliver grades that build on the promise indicated by these latest results from the shallow oxide zone, Gateway might just be rounding the corner on a significant new gold discovery in one of WA’s premier mineral regions.
