Gold producer Kaiser Reef has completed a high-resolution airborne magnetic survey over its Maldon gold project in Victoria, a move designed to zero in on the next batch of drill targets in one of Australiaโ€™s most historically rich goldfields.

Kaiserโ€™s latest work involved a low-altitude, helicopter-supported magnetic and radiometric survey flown with tight 35-metre line spacing over a 59-square-kilometre area. The survey aims to deliver a much clearer picture of the projectโ€™s underlying structural architecture and lithology.

Kaiser Reef has completed a high-resolution helicopter-supported magnetic and radiometric survey over its Maldon gold project in Victoria.

The new geophysical data follows recent soil sampling that identified multiple gold and arsenic pathfinder anomalies, giving the company a solid foundation to build upon. The company says the combined datasets will be an invaluable tool for locking in the next series of surface drill targets.

The company is particularly interested in identifying cross-cutting structures that may intersect the regionโ€™s well-known north-south-trending reefs, as these intersections may be prime locations for gold mineralisation.

โ€ฒ Maldon represents a district scale gold opportunity for Kaiser.โ€ฒ

Kaiser Reef managing director Brad Valiukas

The Maldon goldfield, sitting in Victoriaโ€™s prolific Golden Triangle, has a serious pedigree, having historically produced an impressive 1.75 million ounces of gold at a bonanza grade of 28 grams per tonne. However, Kaiser says the district has been neglected by modern explorers for decades and remains substantially underexplored.

The timing of the companyโ€™s expanded exploration program looks sharp, as the Australian gold sector continues to see a flurry of merger and acquisition activity, showing producers are willing to pay up for scale. At the same time, the recent spot gold price in Australian dollar terms is trading at higher levels, keeping the economics for new discoveries firmly in the spotlight.

Kaiser Reef managing director Brad Valiukas said: โ€œIn the soils, we see some gold trends heading off the north-south alignment, and we are looking for the helicopter-based geophysics survey to confirm and better define the cross-cutting structures intersecting the multiple north-south reefs. This will be key to locking in the next series of surface targets for drill testing.โ€

Kaiser is not just an explorer; it is also an established gold producer operating the Henty gold mine in Tasmania, providing it with valuable operational experience, a robust balance sheet and a source of cash flow to fund its growth ambitions. The companyโ€™s total group mineral resource currently stands at 5.42 million tonnes grading 3.59g/t gold for 625,000 ounces, including an inferred resource at Maldonโ€™s Union Hill deposit of 1.31 million tonnes at 4.44g/t for 187,000 ounces. The company has reaffirmed its 2027 financial year production guidance of 32,000 ounces of gold across both the Maldon and Henty operations.

The Maldon project also comes with the significant advantage of the Porcupine Flats fully permitted and operating 200,000-tonne-per-annum processing plant and existing underground access, offering a potential fast-track to production should the current exploration program in Victoria prove successful.

Kaiser isnโ€™t sitting on its hands, with a 4350-metre surface drilling program also underway across four initial targets at Maldon. Standout results so far include a solid eight-metre hit at 4.16g/t gold from just 10m returned at its โ€˜Quillโ€™ target. Follow-up drilling at Quill has now been completed with assays pending.

In parallel, work has kicked off to refurbish the decline at the Union Hill mine and establish a new underground drill platform, giving the company freshangles to test the historic high-grade system from below.

With a powerful new set of exploration data in hand and a clear geological model to test, Kaiser appears to be systematically working to unlock the modern potential of a classic Victorian goldfield. As the rods get ready to spin on a new follow-up drill program, the market will be watching to see if this old district still has a few secrets left to tell.
