During the State of the Union, Rep. Ilhan Omar was seen shouting at President Trump: “You have killed Americans.”
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump and a number of Democrats shouted back and forth during Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.
Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib were seen shouting at the president when he called for the full restoration of funding for border security and for the Department of Homeland Security.
Trump then asked legislators in the chamber to stand if they agreed that “the first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
The Republican-side of the crowd uniformly stood up and cheered.
But Trump said people who did not stand should “be ashamed of themselves,” then cameras panned to Omar and Tlaib.
Omar appeared to be shouting, “You have killed Americans,” at the president.
When Trump continued, “you should be ashamed of yourselves,” one more time, the crowd got loud and Omar shouted back, “you should be ashamed of yourself.”
Following the back-and-forth, Republicans in the crowd started chanting “U-S-A.”
