Randwick trainer Peter Snowden will attempt to bounce back into the winnerโs stall at Wyong on Thursday when he starts two runners in the Cotter Accountants 2YO Maiden Handicap (1350m).
Snowden produced Scuro Star to finish second at Warwick Farm yesterday when ridden by Andrew Adkins, and the jockey and trainer will again combine at Wyong when Short Sea clashes with Tom Sherry-ridden stablemate Divine Offering.
Both Divine Offering and Short Sea were placed in city-grade races on debut, giving Snowden confidence they can both excel at Wyong.
โDivine Offering is a lovely colt by Written Tycoon, and he ran really well at Canterbury at his only start when he finished third,โ Snowden said. โHe went back that day and got to the line very strongly in the straight. Heโs drawn the outside at Wyong which isnโt ideal, but the extra distance should suit him.โ
A colt by Ole Kirk, Short Sea had his first start on the Kensington track at Randwick when he finishede second behind Royal Air Force.
โIt was only a small field when he made his debut, but he ran home nicely late to get into second,โ Snowden said.
โHeโs also drawn awkwardly in the Wyong race, but again, the extra distance looks like it is in his favour.โ
Brad Widdup, who worked under Snowden at Crown Lodge, has a strong hand at Wyong with two runners clashing with the Snowden pair in the two-year-old event.
He has Donโt Doubt Frank (Chad Schofield) and Street Jewel (Alysha Collett) lining up, while Widdup also has Last Tour (Collett) set to contest the Mercure Kooindah Waters Maiden Handicap.
Widdup will start the day with two starters in the Gosford Air Conditioning Provincial Maiden Plate โ See Diamond and Southport.
