Austria have come to the party with some new players, making hour-mark substitutions in Sasa Kalajdzic, who is on for Romano Schmid, and Marko Arnautovic, who replaces Michael Gregoritsch. At half-time they also brought on Carney Chukwuemeka for Nicolas Seiwald and Florian Grillitsch for Xaver Schlager.
A minute after coming on, Kalajdzic claims Austria’s best attempt yet with a header that is just slightly too high. At two metres tall, he is a serious threat to Spain, especially if Austria can win any set pieces in their attacking half.
Their other substitute, Arnautovic, isn’t as lucky in his first few minutes. Instead, he’s down with a possible head injury after colliding with Spain’s keeper, Unai Simon. He’s back up before long.
