Billionaire mining and media scion Ryan Stokes is the new chairman of the company that owns the Seven Network along with a string of radio stations.

Stokesโ€™ father, Kerry, stepped down as chairman of the company in February after engineering the merger of his TV and newspaper empire, Seven West Media, with radio company Southern Cross Austereo.

That led to a tumultuous period in which the radio side ousted a number of TV executives, before the Stokes took back control in a series of moves culminating in Mondayโ€™s announcement that Ryan Stokes would succeed Teresa Dyson, a longtime family associate, as company chair.

Along with Seven, the company owns the West Australian tabloid newspaper in Perth, the Triple M and Hit radio networks, and the LiSTNR digital audio platform.
