Selections based on a heavy track.
Race 1
9. Leuca ran a solid race after leading when finishing third at her third start at Tamworth in February. She was spelled after that event and since resumed with a down-the-track effort at Newcastle. She will find this more suitable and a vast improvement is on the cards. 8. Kasumi has not been sighted in two tougher Gosford events since resuming from a spell and was placed in three straight before the break. 4. That Piece is a Tassort filly on debut that has had two trials and is primed to run well. 3. Royal Ribbons is also on debut, has had one trial and can run a bold race.
How to play it: Leuca to win.
Race 2
6. Nulkaba Star has been placed in five of 20 starts and comes into this after a last-start second at Gosford. A repeat of that would have him in the finish. 2. Expensive Icon made his debut with a third at this track earlier this month and looks to have the talent to give this a shake. 10. Fashion Spree was not too far away when midfield at this track at her last start, while 13. Sunny Quarters ran fourth on debut in the same race Expensive Icon contested.
How to play it: Nulkaba Star to win.
Race 3
1. Hold My Drink is having his first run for the Paul Snowden stable and has been placed in four of six starts, including a last-start second as favourite on the Acton track at Canberra. He can break through here. 13. Bollente Bella has not been far away in two Canterbury runs since resuming and looms as a chance. 3. Fiery Truth resumed with a sixth at Gosford and can perform better here. 5. Oh My Oh My ran well enough when placed on debut and another forward showing is on the cards.
How to play it: Hold My Drink to win.
Race 4
6. Microgravity had finished second in a couple of events before bolting in at Port Macquarie two starts ago by almost five lengths. He followed that up with a disappointing effort at Scone but can bounce back against these. 10. Titan Of Fury showed improvement when midfield at Newcastle when last produced and should play a part in the finish. 11. Bridego battled on strongly when second at Muswellbrook at his latest outing, while 8. Classic Two ran well in his first two starts back from a spell.
How to play it: Microgravity to win.
Race 5
8. Prince Is Game camped on the speed when scoring by a big margin at this track three starts ago. Heโs failed to fire in two tougher runs since then but will appreciate the drop in grade. 4. Yorikiri was midfield in the Wauchope Cup at his last start and steps up in distance. 2. Strobing was a winner at Port Macquarie three starts ago and has claims. 7. Nature Boy is a bold front-runner that was back in form with a win at Ballina last time out.
How to play it: Prince Is Game to win.
Race 6
5. Barcelona Express hit the line well at this track for a last-start third when not beaten far, and his previous two runs were also sound. Heโs a handy performer at best with solid claims. 6. Mosgiel Daisy is a last-start winner at this track when finishing strongly. 9. Miss Dee Reign gave cheek when third at Scone last start, while 10. Dam Impact disappointed at Muswellbrook last time out but can improve.
How to play it: Barcelona Express to win.
Race 7
5. Love Rat charged home to score at this track four starts ago and has since been placed in all three starts, twice at Coffs Harbour either side of a third at this track. Heโll get back but should be running on strongly. 4. Cool Fiz was in good form at the end of her last campaign with a couple of wins before being spelled after a second at Bowraville. Sheโs won a Port Macquarie trial leading into this. 9. Altercation was placed at this track two starts ago and has claims with a repeat. 2. Debussy is resuming from a spell and invariably runs well fresh.
How to play it: Love Rat each way.
Race 8
9. Smashing Nova showed talent with four placings from his first seven starts before resuming from a spell at Port Macquarie when last produced and scoring a strong win as favourite after racing on the speed. He is set to goon with the job after returning so well. 12. Too Darn Finesse is a stablemate of Smashing Nova and hit the line well when a last-start second at Scone behind Copperline. The extra distance suits here. 8. Iโm Super looked good winning two on end, at Tuncurry and Port Macquarie, before finishing second at this track last time out. 5. Shoutaboutit is a speedy customer that can give a sight from the inside gate.
How to play it: Smashing Nova to win.
